//THE APARTMENT BACKPACK
Nowadays, space is a luxury.Our population grows daily, this calls for new living space.Therefore, due to a rapidly increasing population, the space assigned to each individual decreases.In other words, your living space is minimalized, forcing you to cram your life into an area of about 25m².
Claustrophobic yet?
Since I'm quite a messy person and do like my space, I must say that these apartment rucksacks left me impressed!I recently based a whole body of work (artworks) on the theme of air property and comodifying air to the extent where society colonizes the sky.I suppose this apartment rucksack can be seen as a subtle version of my vision:).
These rooms function as an extension of your apartment (from your window), fixed to your apartment building, by hanging from chains.The room has little perspex windows through which you can observe the city life below you, and also allows natural light t come in.These cubes also have fold out desks, benches etc., which you can use according to your preferences.
Pretty neat!Too bad i'm scared of heights....
Nonetheless, absolutely effective design!

//BE WISE, ACCESSORIZE!
I have been making broaches for about a year now.It started off as something I did on the side whilst I was doing my art stuff. I would reward myself when working hard by making accessories.Eventually all my friends also wanted some so I started making some for them as well.Now I am at the point where I am selling them at a few small shops/galleries. Hopefully the demand will soon grow. Another exciting thing is that my best friend and my sis are now going to be helping out + another buddi from Durban just hooked me up as well...
So my slogan for the day: "Be wise, accessorize!"
here are some pics...any feedback would be appreciated!
//FASHION TIPS BABY #5!
A positive take on child labour.
Since my previous post dealt with child traficking, I decided that this would be an appropriate follow up. It deals with the same theme, yet in a more agreeable manner...This time you can be the one who profitizes from the child labour!
Suit up your child in this cozy body suit!Not only does it look cuddly and cute, somewhat resembling a lion, but it also serves a purpose.Effective 21st century design. This outfit is unfortunately only functional for the period in which your toddler is still in the crawling stage. Now the domestic duties can be distributed fairly!
//STOP THE TRAFFIK
I have been awfully neglectful when it comes to my blog.Often I tell myself that it is of no difference, as no one reads my blog anyways..Yet, nonetheless I keep writing.Even if it is just for the sake of maintenance. I've been struggling to think of "whatever' to write about.
As i'm scouting for something to write about, I've decided on writing about chocolate. Chocolate is a western commidity (if not even global)...It has harmless connotations, and one would never consider that it was produced by little children, slaving away under the pressure of exploitative labour. Well, apparenly this is the case. Large quantities of children are being trafficked to cocoa planatations in the Ivory Coast.This area is the main source of cocoa used in all chocolate produced globally.Therefore it seems that other than when you are eating Cadbury's (the only chocolate manufacturer to have agreed to the "stop trafficking laws"), you can imagine little children gathering the cocoa that puts the celulite on your ass. Moral of the story?I guess buy Cadbury's or avoid chocolate...
